The whole country came to an impasse due to the effect of Covid-19. The general holiday is going on for a period of 1 month. Although the coronavirus has no direct impact on the upper-class families in this 1 month, the middle and lower class families were devastated. Employees, businessmen all are sitting at home for the lockdown situation. Those who have little savings in their business are spending that money to survive. When the situation is going to normal, most of the small traders will not have anything as savings. Many private employees are not getting their salaries. Many will lose their jobs after this situation, then they will have to find new ways to earn.
Our event Mission Corona: Fight for Survival, is underway during this time of the Coronavirus disaster. With your help, we are trying to deliver food to as many families as possible. But at the same time, it is necessary to think about the rehabilitation of small businessmen or day labor families, who will face a severe financial crisis after Covid-19.
Mission Self-Reliance is one of the signature events of the Lighter Youth Foundation. Through this event in March-April every year, we have helped a total of 73 families to become self-reliant in the last 5 years. Of these, 9 families were given grocery shops, 1 family was given rickshaws, 6 families were given motorized vans, 13 families were given sewing machines, 1 family was given engine-driven boats, 1 family was given handicraft equipment and 42 families were given cattle.
Considering the aftermath of Covid-19, we are launching our “Mission Self-Reliance – 2020” (Make Bangladesh Self Reliant through your Zakat) event. We will give priority to those families who have lost their business savings due to the coronavirus, those who have lost their jobs and are looking for a way to earn a living.
During the Holy month of Ramadan, the religious Muslims of the society pay Zakat. You can safely hand over your Zakat money to us. We will do our best to ensure the financial well-being of the people most affected by the Coronavirus situation by bringing them back to normal life.
